Fact Checking Policy
Our unwavering commitment to accuracy, truth, and empirical evidence in digital news journalism.
1. Commitment to Accuracy
At BCN Network, accuracy is the bedrock of our journalism. We believe that distributing verified, reliable, and authentic information is our primary duty to the public. We make every reasonable effort to ensure that the news we publish is accurate, contextually complete, and free from misleading bias.
2. Verification Methodology
Before any report is drafted or published, our editorial desk enforces a rigorous **Triple-Verification Standard**:
- Multiple Independent Sources: We do not publish sensitive or breaking claims based on a single source. A minimum of two independent and reputable sources must corroborate the story before it goes live.
- Primary Evidence Verification: Wherever possible, our reporters seek out primary materials (official documents, court orders, press statements, video recordings, or direct audio quotes) rather than relying on hearsay or third-party reports.
- Expert Consultation: When reporting on specialized domains such as health, science, law, or economics, we consult with certified industry experts to ensure accurate interpretation of technical jargon.
3. Source Validation Process
Our journalists maintain high standards of source validation. We evaluate sources based on:
- Track Record: Has the source provided accurate information in the past?
- Access to Information: Does the source have first-hand knowledge of the event, or are they relying on secondary accounts?
- Potential Bias: Does the source have a vested interest or motive in presenting the information in a specific light? We actively contextualize statements from political or commercial entities.
Note on Anonymous Sources: BCN Network discourages the use of anonymous sources. We use them only when the source faces genuine physical, career, or legal threats, and their information is critical to the public interest. The identity of such sources is always verified by the Editor-in-Chief.
4. Correction and Retraction Standards
Despite our best efforts, errors may occasionally occur. When an error is identified:
- We correct it immediately and transparently.
- We append a clear "Correction Note" at the top or bottom of the article, specifying the exact date of correction, what was changed, and why.
- If a story is found to be fundamentally incorrect, it will be retracted with a detailed editorial explanation.
